It's that magical time of the year again: the time when I lose my mind and continue to believe it's a great use of my time to tally up statistics on baby names in Windsor. As I've said before, this represents babies born in Windsor and Essex County (Ontario, Canada) in 2010, but only those whose parents had the money and/or inclination to put them in this annual feature.

If you're curious, or want to compare, here are the entries I've made for previous years:

2009

2008

2007

2006

So, out of 518 babies, these were the most popular names:

Some observations:

The -adens seem to be on their way out. Noah is also WAY down, as well as Jackson and its variants. No big surprises for the girls, except maybe Charlotte and Amelia.

Yeah... there are a lot of Italian people in my city who apparently don't care what the names they give their babies look like in English. :P

You seem to have a lot of Italians hanging around. Also French people, but that's less surprising.

The names seem on the whole less weird this year than in years past. I did skim or skip most of the one each lists, though.

Yes, there are A LOT of Italians around here. Also, the Italians seem to love announcing things in the paper, whereas other large groups like, say, the Lebanese, just don't...

The names seemed a lot less weird on the whole this year to me as well. There also seem to be fewer names each year. I'm not sure if this is because fewer babies are being born here, or because fewer people are putting their babies in this feature, or maybe both.
